1st session of the TPD Dialogue Series of the Empowering Teachers Network in LAC: National Teacher Training Policy in El Salvador: Approaches, Advances and Challenges

The first session of the new TPD Dialogue Series was held on May 14, 2025, and featured a presentation by representatives from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Education of El Salvador, who shared their National Teacher Training Policy. The Series promotes thematic meetings among key actors in the region to reflect on challenges, approaches, and lessons related to TPD. Through expert presentations and extended discussions, these dialogues foster spaces for exchange and collective learning, with a focus on equity, sustainability, and the impact of TPD policies and practices, emphasizing experiences from and for Latin America.

This inaugural session included a presentation on policy efforts in El Salvador, followed by an open exchange of comments and questions from participants. The conversation focused on key topics such as the articulation between initial and continuous training, support mechanisms for teachers, and differentiated strategies for professional development.

About the Empowering Teachers Network in Latin America and the Caribbean

With the goal of fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing among stakeholders in Teacher Professional Development (TPD) across Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), the Empowering Teachers Initiative (ETI), established the Empowering Teachers Network in Latin America and the Caribbean. This platform focuses on generating connections between different actors in order to discuss, problematize, collaborate, and put into practice the lessons learned about teacher professional development in the region.
